The Last Drink

A simple sip and I roll.
Relaxed eyelids fold hand across my chest.
The bottle's stronger now.
Another sip and a surge of strength.
Ignorance isn't bravery, though I test it.
More swills and I swirl.
Acid's bite and a lover's charm.
Boisterous melancholy boasts my face.
A twisted glass shows my features awry.
I never meant to take the devil the place.
And that is why I said goodbye.

Thanks to Laurel for this Saturday's inspiration, "Alcohol is Poison."
