Remembering You

Remembering you is
a flower.
The closer I get the more beautiful the detail, the sharper the thorn.

Remembering you is
arthritis.
Some days it's better than others, but it's always hurts.

Remembering you is
a gash.
It bleeds now, but the scar will never go away.

Remembering you is
my body on fire.
It burns, stinks and I hate with the fury of the flames.

Remembering you is
an old building I forgot was torn down.
I cherish it until I remember it's gone.

Remembering you is
a sign that says, "you must be this tall."
Because I know that I don't measure up.

Remembering you is
an echo.
Because the harder I push you out, the stronger you come back.

Remembering you is
a paradox.
You are everywhere you're not, which is everywhere that I am.

Forgetting you
is jumping to the moon.
It doesn't matter how hard I try, it's just not going to happen.
